David Gilbert

David Gilbert is a partner in our highly skilled Lease Advisory team and has had extensive experience dealing with the hypothetical world of rent reviews for over 20 years. He is highly respected in his field of expertise. During this time he has acted for the majority of the high street names, a number of corporate institutions and independent retailers/property owners, both in- and out- of- town, throughout the UK.

 David has a Bachelor of Science in General Practice Surveying, qualified as an Associate Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in October 1986 and was elected to the Institute of Revenue and Rating Valuers in August 1994. In March 1999 he was elected to the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, made a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in May 1999 and obtained the College of Estate Management Diploma in Arbitration in April 2000.

 As a member of both Arbrix and the President of the RICS Panel of Arbitrators and Independent Experts, David is able to give appropriate advice to clients particularly on these aspects of negotiations vis-a-vis their properties. Unsurprisingly, he is frequently being asked to act as an expert witness, giving evidence in both written and oral format to arbitrators/independent experts in relation to rent review disputes and to the courts in respect of lease renewals.
